Suspending Classes without Suspending Learning, Students should Maintain Rigorous Learning Habit

In light of the severe pandemic situation recently, on 21st March the Education Bureau announced that classes of all schools need to be further suspended.

With reference to the parents’ letter issued previously, in order to take care of students who are in need, the school will remain open (except during the Easter public holidays) during the school suspension period. Suitable areas will be arranged for students to conduct self-study.

In addition, to avoid the losing of lesson time, the school had made weekly scheduled online arrangement during the initial suspension period. Materials and assignments were distributed regularly. The homework submission statues were also constantly monitored.

At the same time, to further sustain the learning habit of students, our school has launched a comprehensive and regular online lesson arrangement starting from 14th April. Secondary school students are required to attend three sessions of live online lesson every morning, from Monday to Friday. It is hoped that students can sustain their learning during the school suspension period with the help of the above constant teaching arrangement.

Mysterious Gifts Prepared by the Principal Office

Few days ago, the Principal Office has “quietly” prepared mysterious gifts for those who performed outstandingly in their homework as an encouragement. The gifts will be sent to the homes of these students. The gifts include items of stationery and exquisite items. Most preciously, the principal and teachers-in-charge leave some handwritten notes of encouragement in each gift.

Later on, mysterious gifts will also be prepared for students who show significant improvement in homework submission. It is hoped that students will continue to strive.

Despite the lengthened suspension period, it certainly does not mean that we have to suspend our learning. The principal expresses his wish that our students can treasure the time and maintain the outstanding learning attitude. At the same time, spare some time to participate in some events that can benefit both body and mind, for instance, reading wisdom enriched books and journals, doing creative art, practicing musical instruments, doing appropriate sports events and etc.

The teachers of Pui Kiu College also aspire to see students all in great spirits with warm smiles when school resume.
