Students from our school were invited to attend the ‘International Forum on Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area’ by the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the HKSAR

 

The ‘International Forum on Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area’ was jointly organized by the HKSAR Government and the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the HKSAR on 24th October, 2019. Hundreds of guests from global government and business sectors were invited to discuss the development of the Greater Bay Area and plan on world openness and cooperation. Our school’s Grade 12 students also received the invitation to attend.

 

 

 

The opening remarks of this forum were delivered by Mrs. Carrie Lam, the Chief Executive of the HKSAR and Mr Xie Feng, the commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the HKSAR. Leaders in the political and business sectors including Mr. Leung Chun-ying, the Vice Chairperson of the National Committee, Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Mr. Somkid Jatusripitak, Deputy Prime Minister, the Kingdom of Thailand, Mr. Ma Xingrui, Governor of Guangdong Province and Mr. Luo Wen, Vice Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission of the People’s Republic of China all gave keynote speeches.

 

 

In her opening remarks, Mrs. Carrie Lam, the Chief Executive of the HKSAR pointed out the advancement made in the infrastructure of the Greater Bay Area since the promulgation of ‘Outline Development Plan for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area’ in February this year. The Greater Bay Area provides new impetus to Hong Kong’s economy and creates development opportunities for Hong Kong citizens, especially the young people.

 

Pui Kiu College was the only school receiving the invitation to participate in this international forum. Students were benefited immensely from taking part in the forum, meeting the distinguished guests and exchanging ideas. This opportunity also provides inspiration to our students regarding their further studies and career development.
