Grade 12’s Graduation Ceremony

On a seemingly ordinary school day, February 24, 2017, it was officially the last day of school for our Grade twelve seniors, making it a vibrant and memorable day for them.

As the graduates were the first generation of students to have completed 12 years of education at Pui Kiu College since 2005, the year our school was founded, this year’s graduation ceremony therefore carried another layer of meaning. It symbolizes a huge milestone of our school’s development throughout the years.

Today, the graduation ceremony marked the end of the seniors’ secondary school life. A day their hearts filled with gratitude towards the upbringing and support the school and teachers had provided with all along. During the graduation ceremony, graduates expressed their gratitude with their funky dance moves, humorous acting skills and singing capabilities, while also displaying finely crafted video clips regarding their school life. Some seniors couldn’t help but shed tears, deeply moving the audiences in the process. Bouquets after bouquets of flowers were presented to class and subject teaches as an expression of appreciation for their long-standing teaching efforts.

Twelve Birch students expressed how honoured it was to grow up alongside with Pui Kiu College. As seniors of our school, the graduates wished the school every success in the coming days and hoped that younger students would achieve outstanding results in the public exams. Students from Twelve Maple expressed thanks to the school for exposing students to different extracurricular activities throughout the years; and granting them with an eventful school experience.

Most graduates were grateful for the support they received from the school, the secondary school teachers as well as the primary school teachers throughout their school life. WONG CheukLum Charlie from 12 Birch expressed her thanks to all class teachers on behalf of all graduates, as their resilient backing encouraged many in regards to their studies and future decisions. Another student, Lee Cheuk Kin Walter could not express how thankful he was about the amount of tolerance teachers have shown throughout the years of teaching.

To add on, the teachers conveyed certain expectations for the graduated students. Teacher Dorothy, class teacher of Twelve Birch expressed her reluctance to part with her class, but hoped that they will achieve outstanding results in the public examination, to be a role model to younger schoolmates. Teacher Dorothy also emphasized the reason for the achievements the seniors had so far were the result of hard work. Likewise Teacher Dominic, Class teacher of Twelve Maple revealed his dismay toward parting with his class, however he was comforted by how the students in his class had developed and changed into bright young adults. He envisioned his students as ships, soaring through the vast ocean of life and anticipating that they will live life to their limits. He also urged graduates to stay loyal to their motherland while putting all efforts in whatever they do and bring glory to their nation. He at last reminded the students to take advantage of their study leave and use time wisely, making sure their efforts won’t go in vain.

A few years ago, a group of children once wore cheeky smiles as they sprinted around the school campus, have grown into faces of determination. With a gleam in their eyes as they await their first pivotal challenge in life – the DSE, Pui Kiu College sends its regards to our fellow graduates and wishes them the best with their new chapter of life.
