Campus Cafeteria-Phoenix
In order to add colour to our students’ school life and enhance students’ sense of belonging, the secondary school tuck shop underwent a makeover and turned into a western cafeteria. Phoenix has a modern flare in its design. You can see rows of sofas and high table, all in wooden theme. You can tell instantly that Phoenix is not a traditional campus cafeteria.
Tapping in the cafe makes us feel like placing oneself in a small gallery as the wall behind the cashier is fill up by painting of students. It successfully kills two birds in one stone by decorating the cafe and at the same time giving opportunity to students to do what they are good at.
The food serves in Phoenix also stand out from general campus cafeterias. Besides traditional western desserts like waffles, molten chocolate cakes and lemon tarts. We can also find our own signature dish like purple sweet potato milk in our school's new cafe. The food caters for different students and brings us a sensational journey.
According to the cafe's manager, the most popular food at the moment is the ice cream waffles. Freshly made waffles pairing with frozen ice cream giving us the feeling of warmth and cold revolve in our mouth at the same time. With a slight hint of creamy taste, it stimulates our taste buds and sensory nerve at the same time. Other than that, every serve consists of three waffles, that’s indeed a real deal.
The students’ response is splendid, given Phoenix has just opened for a few weeks. I can see the new cafe filled with people during recess. Phoenix provides students, parents and teachers with a place to gather. It has also become a signature of Pui Kiu College.
