Primary PE Week

The Physical Education Department of our Primary Section organized a 5-days Primary PE week on the 27th March 2017 (Mon) – 31st March 2016 (Fri). The purpose is to promote the two latest hits of sports which are floor curling and the AR (Augmented Reality) somatosensory game, a mixture of both sports and technology, to our primary students. In addition to bringing new experience to them, the Primary PE week also wanted to spread the message of ‘sports is life’ to our primary students. This event was part of the Jockey Club Innovative and Adventure ‘Sports for All’ Programme. Jockey Club kindly provided us with professional coaches to instruct the students, ensuring it is a comprehensive learning experience.

Teacher Karin, who was the teacher-in-charge of the PE week, points out floor curling required both mental and physical strength of the players. The teammates also need to demonstrate a sense of tacit understanding, mutual trust and effective communication among members. This, therefore, fosters trust and team spirit among teammates. Besides, floor curling requires less strength and minimal physical contact. It allows students of different ability and gender to compete at the same time. The PE team had promoted this sport to secondary students on 6th & 7th April and invited students of different grades to compete during lunchtime.
