1.         International Recognition

National Academic Recognition Information Centre (NARIC) of the UK has recognized NCUK IFY to be comparable to the GCE A Level. It is broadly comparable to the Australian Senior Secondary Certificate of Education and the US Advanced Placement (AP)

2.         Guaranteed Access to NCUK Universities

As long as students pass the NCUK IFY, they are guaranteed an offer of a place at one of the NCUK Universities.  Over the last two years, 100% of students who passed their NCUK programmes have been offered a place.

3.         More Focus on English Language and Electives

In NCUK IFY, students only have to study 4 subjects [English for Academic Purposes (EAP) + 3 electives] compared to the 6 to 7 subjects in HKDSE.  Students can thus pay more time and effort on individual subjects to strive for better academic results.

4.         Exemption of IELTS for UK Studies

As long as students pass the NCUK IFY (including the EAP component), there is no need to sit for a separate English language test to satisfy the language requirement of UK universities.

5.         Well-designed Bridging from Junior Secondary to NCUK IFY

Apart from preparing students for the HKDSE, our HKDSE curriculum in G10 and G11 is tailored to equip students with the knowledge and skills required for studying the NCUK IFY.  Curriculum of each subject is designed holistically so that students can have a better academic foundation for studying the modules in NCUK IFY.  In this way, students have two extra years to get familiar with the learning and assessment styles of IFY.

6.         Specialist Support in Career Planning

Upon registration on the NCUK IFY, our Career Guidance Department will work with NCUK Placement Team to guide students through the application process to the admission to a UK university.  Advice will be given on university and course / programme choices based on students’ academic performance and career aspirations.
